Only a minimum of planning is required in some areas, but nothing significant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will find supermarkets or small grocery shops every time you go down to the valley.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, we recommend that you bring some food (besides the usual energetic snacks), which is always a good idea when going into the mountains on an unfamiliar route.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div><strong>Is there a list of hotels along the route?<\/strong><\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There is no list of Hotels and BnBs as the route changes every year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We recommend using huts and malgas whenever possible, both for food and for accommodation if necessary. Venice is also served by other traditional airlines. Two alternatives are Verona Airport or Trieste Airport.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you would like to cycle directly from Treviso airport, there is a nice smooth cycle path (Ostiglia) that allows you to get to Cittadella without encountering traffic, a pleasant ride of about 40km. Write us for more info. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arriving by bike directly from Venice airport is a bit longer but still feasible. We recommend that you plan your route in advance as there are some dangerous roads and also take the Ostiglia cycle path once you are near Treviso. Write us for more info.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Treviso e Venezia sono collegati a Cittadella via treno. Da Treviso \u00e8 possibile utilizzare la tratta diretta Treviso Centrale &gt; Vicenza Centrale, che ferma a Cittadella. Da Venezia \u00e8 necessario fare 1 cambio e vi sono due possibili soluzioni. Venezia Mestre &gt; Padova + Padova &gt; Bassano del Grappa (ferma a Cittadella) o Venezia Mestre &gt; Castelfranco Veneto + Castelfranco Veneto &gt; Vicenza (ferma a Cittadella).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the bike is closed and disassembled, there are no problems with transport by train. If the bike is mounted, however, it is necessary to purchase an additional ticket (not available online).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bike transport (mounted) is only possible in regional and fast regional trains and not in Frecce\/Italo.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To our knowledge you cannot transport a mounted bike on local busses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div><strong>How to reach Cittadella from abroad by train?<\/strong><\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The main railway junction stations to look at if you want to reach Cittadella from abroad are Padua and Treviso, or possibly Verona. From Padua and Treviso there are direct routes to Cittadella (respectively in the direction of Bassano del Grappa and Vicenza), while from Verona you need at least 1 change.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alcune tratte a lunga percorrenza che raggiungono una delle stazione menzionate in precedenza sono: Monaco di Baviera &gt; Venezia Santa Lucia (diretto, ferma a Verona Porta Nuova o a Padova),  Vienna &gt; Venezia Santa Lucia (diretto, ferma a Treviso). <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div><strong>Is free camping possible during the event?<\/strong><\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At the national level in Italy, there are no rules that regulate overnight stays in tents. In the entire Veneto region, wild camping is prohibited outside the equipped areas, but as \u201cwild camping\u201d in Italy is defined as camping in a tent for over 24 hours in a place, there are some exceptions that you can easily take advantage of without breaking any rules. It is possible to set up a tent for a shorter period and in places other than campsites. If you camp right before sunset and leave at dawn or shortly after (\u201cbivacco notturno\u201d in Italian) you will have no problem. Please avoid areas next to Alpine huts (\u201cRifugi\u201d), very touristic locations, as well as monumental areas, of course. Remember to leave no trace.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A reasonable alternative to camping are the mountain huts (Rifugi in Italian) along the way. They offer basic accommodation and traditional meals but require some planning ahead. You\u2019ll also often pass through villages with hotels and B&amp;Bs. The only major town is Bassano del Grappa, where you can find everything you need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div><strong>Can I sleep in the gym the night before the start?<\/strong><\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the evening before the start, you can use a gym to sleep with your bike and equipment inside. There are no beds or dormitories, just a few mattresses. Showers and toilets are also available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La stessa palestra e servizi saranno disponibili anche all&#8217;arrivo per i primi 6 giorni dalla partenza. Per motivi logistici poi non sar\u00e0 pi\u00f9 possibile utilizzarli da cinque giorni dopo il giorno della partenza.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div><strong>How much water should I carry with me?<\/strong><\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Although the Veneto Trail is not a route in isolated places, the amount of water to take with you should never be underestimated. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>L&#8217;acqua potrebbe essere un problema durante le lunghe salite, come il Costo Vecchio (Altopiano di Asiago) o il Monte Grappa, dove non \u00e8 possibile trovare delle fontanelle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In our opinion, it is necessary to have about 2L of water with you, to be increased slightly in case of extreme heat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div><strong>What are the temperatures along the route in June?<\/strong><\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The route varies a lot in terms of elevation and therefore very different temperatures can be found. Lower temperatures can be found during thunderstorms or at high altitudes during the night (as low as 5\u00b0C).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In general, the Po Valley is very hot\/humid and in June temperatures can exceed 30 \u00b0C. In some parts of the route there is little shade so be careful if temperatures are high and try to carry more water with you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thunderstorms (especially in the afternoons of very hot days) are common in the mountainous areas of the route, so be careful.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Below you can find some values, indicative, for Cittadella (Po valley) and Cortina d'Ampezzo (1400m above sea level). Consider that the route reaches and exceeds 2000 m a.s.l. on one or more occasions, so the minima will be lower than those listed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/venetotrail.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/VT.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/venetotrail.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/VT-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4888\" srcset=\"https:\/\/venetotrail.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/VT-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/venetotrail.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/VT-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/venetotrail.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/VT-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/venetotrail.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/VT-18x10.jpg 18w, https:\/\/venetotrail.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/VT.jpg 1350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div><strong>Can I use my mobile phone for navigation?<\/strong><\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The GPS device, as per the regulations, is part of the mandatory equipment to participate in the event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For safety and battery life reasons, it is not possible to participate to the trail just by following the .gpx track from a mobile phone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can use your mobile phone for navigation but only if you also have a GPS device with you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div><strong>Can I leave my bike-box or stuff somewhere during the event?<\/strong><\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Yes, you can leave your bike box at the gym till when you'll be back at the finish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item\"><summary class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__title\"><div><strong>When is the route sent to participants?<\/strong><\/div><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-themeisle-blocks-accordion-item__content\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>General information on the following year's route are published in December.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A unofficial .gpx is sent to all registered participants approximately one week after the registration closure.
